Being a middle manager is a tough job. One of the toughest in healthcare. Even the title, middle manager, gives a sense of being trapped between senior leaders and frontline staff. Yet, this level of leadership is the most vital in creating and sustaining a healthy culture and maintaining employee engagement.
Instead of putting more demands on middle leaders, we should be helping them to prioritize culture and relationships with their team members.
