Good Read: The Busy Leader’s Handbook

Review by: Kristin Baird, RN, BSN, MHA

Book by Quint Studer

Quint Studer has been a household name in healthcare for the past two decades for his work in leadership development and patient experience. In The Busy Leader’s Handbook, Quint has taken the principles he’s applied in healthcare into the mainstream.

This book offers all leaders the tools for building stronger organizations and communities. It is aptly titled, given that the tips and tactics are concise and practical, making it easier to fit into a busy leader’s schedule.

I really liked how the book was organized. The main sections are: key skills and behaviors, optimizing employee performance, and strategic/foundational topics. There are short chapters within each section, allowing the leader to read from cover to cover, or dive into a specific area.

Get out your sticky notes and pen. You’re going to want to take notes and refer back to them. I highly recommend this book and am confident every reader will find pearls of wisdom within.
