I know I talk a lot about connection to purpose and finding passion in what you do. But one thing I haven’t talked as much about is that there will be times when the passion for your work may wax and wane. And when it does, and when you are in the midst of one of those downturns, it’s important to remind yourself that it’s just temporary and you’ll find your way back. And sometimes, the best thing that you can do is to be fully present in the moment and remind yourself that right here, right now I am making a difference.
Healthcare, especially caregiving is difficult work. It’s physically and mentally taxing, but can be immensely rewarding. You may not always have full days when you are consciously connected to purpose, but find those moments. They go a long way in feeding the soul.
